The design for The Mabli emerged from the desire to design a track bike for my daughter. She rides for Eastlands Velo at The National Cycling Centre, Manchester.
So the design brief was to produce a fast but safe handling bike. Aesthetically it needed to bold and bright without being overly aggressive. My daughter was certain of the shade of blue she wanted and at the same time I sourced from Italy a beautiful set of Pista 030 track wheels. I wanted to produce a modern twist on a classic steel bike aesthetic. The deeper section rims and oversize stem help achieve this look. I used more Italian parts than usual British selection. Brands such a Gipiemme and Arte Selle offer artisan quality. Gipiemme is one of those great vintage brands that is overlooked a little, a perfect partner for a Moss Bike. The forks are a modern take on a classic double crown, a nice visual touch but I also plan to make a classic track fork to complement the rest of the bike eventually if someone requests it. The WoundUp track fork is also an option.
