Course Description

A six day course Monday to Wednesday over two weeks £1500 plus materials and paint finish Schedule and FAQ below Week 1 Let’s talk bikes! We’ll explore in detail the specification for your bike, where and how you like to ride. This week is all about design, you and your bike and getting started with practical skills. You’ll learn how a bike frame works and how the geometry of the frame affects the ride. We’ll get you measured up for your custom frame and you’ll be using BIKE CAD to work on the details and iterations and finalise the drawings ready to start making. On Day 2 you’ll be learning about the various tools, jigs and techniques involved in frame building with the opportunity to make some test pieces. You’ll have fun marking, cutting and filing the mitre joints of the bike tubes. On Tuesday of this week, you’ll have you’ll have plenty of time to practice your brazing skills. We’ll introduce you to the frame building jig in more detail and transfer the geometry from BIKE CAD to the jig. At this point you’ll be busy preparing your own frame tubes and fittings. By the end of day Wednesday you’ll have the front triangle in the Jig and tacked with the brazing torch ready for week 2 Week 2 On Monday of this week, you’ll be applying your newly learnt skills to braze up the front triangle and start the cuts for the chain and seat stays. This a busy but enjoyable week seeing all the hard work come together. You’ll be brazing up the rear triangle, learning about the techniques to file and finish the frame. On the Wednesday of this week, it’s all about the final touches. On day 6 you’ll learn and apply the skill of silver soldering to fit the required braze-ons and bosses to finish frame. Congratulations your frame is complete. At this point we can finalise the decision on the paint/finish of your frame, leave it with us to apply the final coating or take it home as is.. Following an approximate 3 week Leadtime. Cancellations with a full refund can be made up to 14 days after booking. 
However, this does not apply to any bookings made within 6 weeks of the course commencing, we can not offer a refund or rescheduling if a booking is made at that point.
